NHM Chandigarh Medical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Health Mission (NHM), Chandigarh is recruiting contractual Medical Officers for its NHM and PMABHIM programmes. The notice brings together maternal and child health and general duty appointments, with a special condition for filling reserved backlog posts when reserved-category candidates do not attend.
Existing NHM Chandigarh contractual Medical Officers can also apply. If you are considering this recruitment, pay particular attention to the reservation conditions and the programme under which each role is offered.
Posts and Disciplines
- Medical Officer-MCH: This role falls under NHM and relates to maternal and child health. The advertised opening belongs to the OBC backlog.
- Medical Officer/GDMO: These general duty roles fall under PMABHIM and cover SC and OBC backlog positions.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial contract: The engagement runs initially up to 31 March 2027. An extension depends on your performance, conduct and the duration of the project.
- Programme approval: The notice separately records PMABHIM approval up to 30 March 2027 and says an extension is likely. A likely extension is not a confirmed continuation of your appointment.
- Conditional General-category appointment: General, SC and OBC candidates may apply. If reserved-category candidates again do not appear, the backlog posts may be filled from the General category conditionally up to 31 March 2027.
- OBC claim: You must belong to Chandigarh and your community must appear in the Central OBC list applicable to the Union Territory. The notice links this condition to the Chandigarh Administration's notified rules.
- Posting flexibility: You may be assigned to any health facility or national health programme. The post title does not promise a particular hospital or fixed unit.
- Recruitment changes: The Mission Director can change the number of posts or cancel the walk-in exercise without giving a reason.
- Interview travel: You will not receive travel or daily allowance for attending.

The walk-in venue is the Office of the Mission Director, National Health Mission, 4th Floor, Administrative Block, Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Registration is strictly from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with interviews afterwards.

पात्रता मानदंड

MBBS from a recognized university, one-year compulsory rotatory internship, registration with a State Medical Council or Medical Council of India, and one six-month house job in any department or at least six months of post-qualification work experience.

Both posts: 120-hour Course on Computer Concepts Plus (CCC+). Medical Officer-MCH: experience in Gynaecology and Obstetrics or Paediatrics at a recognized hospital.
