North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is appointing Senior Resident Doctors across clinical, surgical and laboratory departments at its Shillong campus. • Medicine and allied specialties: General Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurology, Paediatrics, Pain and Palliative Care, and TB and Respiratory Diseases support inpatient, outpatient and specialist services.
• Surgical specialties: General Surgery, Burns and Plastic Surgery, CTVS, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Surgical Oncology and Urology cover peri-operative care and specialty wards.

Post-wise Duties

Clinical and Medical Departments

You will assess patients, plan treatment with the faculty team and provide ward, clinic and emergency cover within your specialty. Your work also includes clear case records and coordination with diagnostic and support units.

Surgical Departments

You will support pre-operative assessment, procedures, post-operative monitoring and emergency referrals. Safe handovers and close follow-up are central to these departments.

Diagnostic and Pre-clinical Departments

You will contribute to reporting, quality checks, teaching and the department's routine academic work. The role calls for careful documentation and timely communication with treating teams.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Backlog and reservation: The departmental positions include backlog seats, and some reserved seats marked in the notice may be used for ad-hoc appointments when the relevant reserved-category candidate is unavailable.
• PwBD reservation: Identified non-surgical departments carry horizontal reservation under the Government of India policy; the disability certificate must come from an authorised government medical board.
• EWS treatment: An unfilled EWS seat is not carried forward as backlog; another-category applicant can be considered only as an unreserved candidate if the EWS seat remains vacant.
• Government-sponsored doctors: Meghalaya-sponsored doctors with bond obligations remain governed by the state's Mandatory Medical Public Services Policy. Doctors with compulsory rural-posting obligations must show completion proof.
• Serving candidates: If you work for a government, PSU or autonomous body, you need a valid NOC. Former employees of such bodies must show their relieving order.
• Interview expenses: NEIGRIHMS will not pay travelling allowance, while accommodation may be offered only when available.
