North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus has invited applications for one Junior Research Fellow post under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India-funded project titled "Development of Vegetative Propagation Protocol and Vacuum Freeze Dehydrated Probiotic Powder from Sohiong (Prunus nepalensis) Fruit". The project is led by Dr. R. Sasikumar, Associate Professor, Department of Agribusiness Management and Food Technology. The selected candidate may also be enrolled in the PhD programme at NEHU as per university rules — a good opportunity for research-minded food technology graduates.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: First Class M.Sc/M.Tech in Food Engineering and Technology, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Agriculture Process Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, or an allied subject
• Preferred: Working experience in a Food Testing/National Level Laboratory with exposure to HPLC, DSC, Particle Size Analyzer, Spectrophotometry, FT-IR, and knowledge of FSSAI, BIS, ISO standards and statistical tools
• If you are currently employed or pursuing a PhD, you must submit a No Objection Certificate from your employer or PhD supervisor.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 35,000 per month as a Junior Research Fellow, plus HRA (a higher HRA rate applies from the third year for NET/GATE-qualified candidates).
• The fellowship is initially for 6 months, extendable up to the 12-month project duration based on your performance.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your qualifications and a personal interview:

1. Screening: Applications are reviewed against the essential and desirable qualifications
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on 14 August 2026 at 11:30 AM at NEHU Tura Campus

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Bring original and self-attested photocopies of all your documents.
