The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune, an autonomous institute of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) under the Department of Atomic Energy, has released Recruitment Advertisement No. 2026/08 for 8 vacancies across five different posts at its Pune and Khodad campuses. NCRA-TIFR operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) near Khodad — the world's largest radio telescope at metre wavelengths — along with the Ooty Radio Telescope. Who Can Apply?

Administrative Assistant-B (Level 6 - Rs. 73,020/month)

• Qualification: Graduate from a recognised university with 55% marks, plus proficiency in word processing, database, or accounting procedures
• Experience: 5 years in an Establishment/HR section at a large, reputed organization
• Knowledge of Central Government rules, CCS rules, FR-SR and service rules is desirable

Clerk-A (Level 3 - Rs. 39,770-46,990/month)

• Qualification: Graduate with 50% marks, knowledge of typing, and knowledge of personal computers/MS Office backed by a government-recognised certificate
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of clerical duties and correspondence at a large, reputed organization

Driver-B (Level 2 - Rs. 35,270-39,970/month)

• Qualification: Passed SSC or equivalent, with a valid driving license for the required vehicle category
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of accident-free driving of heavy passenger vehicles in large cities

Laboratory Assistant-B, Electronics (Level 3 - Rs. 39,770/month)

• Qualification: National Trade Certificate (60% marks) in Electronics or an allied trade from NCVT, with 2 years' lab experience — OR a National Apprenticeship Certificate (60% marks) with 1 year's lab experience
• Experience in soldering/de-soldering PTH and SMD components, and knowledge of CRO/DSO, is desirable

Security Guard (Level 1 - Rs. 32,040/month)

• Qualification: Passed SSC or equivalent, plus a Firefighting/NCC/Civil Defence/Home Guard training certificate (waived for Defence/CAPF candidates) and basic computer knowledge
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in Defence, CAPF, or security work at a reputed organization

Age Limit

• Maximum age limits vary by post — from 28 years (Clerk-A Khodad, Laboratory Assistant-B UR, Security Guard) up to 35 years (Driver-B Khodad), reckoned as on 31 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government rules for reserved categories.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary between Rs. 32,040 and Rs. 73,020 per month (Total Monthly Emoluments), depending on the post and pay level (Pay Level 1 to Pay Level 6).
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Physical Standards

Driver-B and Security Guard posts:

• Male: Height at least 165 cm; Chest 80-85 cm; vision 6/6 with naked eye vision 6/9 in both eyes plus colour recognition
• Female: Height at least 157 cm; vision 6/6 with naked eye vision 6/9 in both eyes plus colour recognition

Security Guard - Physical Efficiency Test:

• Running: 100 metres in 16 seconds and 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds (relaxed timing for women, ex-servicemen, and candidates above 35 years)
• Shot Put (except women): 7.26 kg to 4.5 metres
• Chin-ups, push-ups and sit-ups as per age-wise standards

Selection Process

The selection will follow these steps:

1. Screening: NCRA-TIFR will screen applications based on your qualifications and experience — the Institute may limit the number of candidates called if there are a large number of applicants.
2. Physical Fitness/Efficiency Test: Applicable for Driver-B and Security Guard posts.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original certificates and your driving license (for Driver-B) at this stage.
