MPPSC is hiring 186 Assistant Professors in Physics for government colleges under the Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh. If you have a Master's Degree in Physics with NET, SLET or SET (or a Ph.D. as per UGC norms), you can apply online. The last date to apply is 15 August 2026. You should be between 21 and 40 years old, and the starting salary is Rs. 57,700 per month under Academic Level 10.

Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) Assistant Professor (Physics) Recruitment 2026

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 23/2025, dated 30 December 2025, to fill 186 Assistant Professor (Physics) posts in government colleges across Madhya Pradesh. MPPSC is the constitutional body responsible for recruiting teachers and Group A/B officers for the Madhya Pradesh Government, and posts filled through this exam are permanent teaching positions in government-run degree colleges across the state.

MPPSC originally opened this recruitment alongside several other subjects, but many candidates were still waiting for their Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP-SET) results. To accommodate them, MPPSC issued a series of corrigenda — dated 25 June 2026, 23 July 2026 and 27 July 2026 — that restarted the online application process for History, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Mathematics candidates with a fresh window. The written exam for these five subjects will now be held in two sessions on the same day, in offline OMR format. This is a great opportunity for Physics postgraduates with NET, SLET, SET or a Ph.D. who want a stable, pensionable government teaching job.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in Physics (or Applied Physics) with at least 55% marks from a recognised Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  • NET/SLET/SET: You must have cleared UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, SLET, or the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP-SET) in Physics.
  • Ph.D. Exemption: If you hold a Ph.D. in Physics awarded as per UGC Regulations, you are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 21 and 40 years old as on 1 January 2025.
  • Age Relaxation: Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) and other eligible categories get age relaxation as per Madhya Pradesh Government rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month under Academic Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh Government rules.
  • This is a permanent, pensionable government teaching post with regular pay increments over your career.

  • SC / ST / OBC / PwBD (Madhya Pradesh domicile): Rs. 250 plus Rs. 40 MPOnline portal charge

Selection Process

MPPSC will select candidates in the following stages:

  1. Written Exam (OMR Based): Paper-I (General Studies) has 50 questions for 200 marks, and Paper-II (Physics) has 150 questions for 600 marks. You get 4 marks for every correct answer. Both papers for the Physics exam are conducted in two sessions on the same day, in offline OMR mode.
  2. Interview: Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for a personal interview.
  3. Document Verification: Your certificates, category proof and age proof are checked against your application.
  4. Medical Examination: A standard medical fitness check before final appointment.

Your final selection depends on your combined performance in the written exam and interview, so prepare well for both Paper-I (General Studies) and Paper-II (Physics).

  2. Find the Assistant Professor (Physics) Exam 2025 (Advt. No. 23/2025) link under recruitment notices.
  3. Register or log in using your One Time Registration (OTR) details.
  4. Fill in the online application form with your personal, educational and category details.
  5. Upload your photo, signature and required documents.
  6. Pay the application fee online through the MPOnline portal.
  7. Submit the form and save a printout for your records.
