Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) is hiring 12 Junior Scientific Officers (JSO) for the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory, Home Department, Government of Mizoram. MPSC has released Advertisement No. 18 of 2026-27 for 12 Junior Scientific Officer posts across 7 specializations — DNA, Fingerprint, Chemistry, Ballistics & Toolmarks, Questioned Documents, Photography, and Cyber Forensic — in the state's Forensic Science Laboratory. This is a Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted) post, and selected officers will examine forensic exhibits, attend crime scenes, and depose as expert witnesses in court. The recruitment is conducted through a Direct Recruitment Examination held by MPSC.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a relevant Master's degree (M.Sc.), or for some specializations, an equivalent engineering degree — check the table above for your chosen specialization.
• Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory is preferred but not mandatory.
• Computer Proficiency: You must meet the computer proficiency standard prescribed under the Mizoram Group 'A', 'B' and 'C' Recruitment Rules, 2023.
• Mizo Language Proficiency: You must pass the Mizo Language qualifying test, unless you studied Mizo as a subject up to Class 10 (HSLC) in Mizoram, or as MIL outside Mizoram.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 30 years old as on 1 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: ST/SC candidates get up to 5 years of relaxation.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of approximately Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month under Level 7 of the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Mizoram Government rules.

MPSC will select candidates through the following stages:
