Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) Draftsman and Works Supervisor Recruitment 2026 - 357 Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2026 for 357 Divisional Cadre posts in the Public Works (R&B) Department, with vacancies split across the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. This recruitment covers two posts — Draftsman (Civil) and Works Supervisor. Works Supervisor accounts for 260 of the 357 posts, making it the bigger opportunity in this drive. Only candidates holding a valid Jammu & Kashmir Domicile Certificate can apply. The Board has clarified that the total number of posts may change slightly before the selection process is complete, and the notification remains subject to the outcome of any pending court cases.

Who Can Apply?

For Draftsman (Civil) - Level-4 (Rs. 25,500-81,100/month):

• You need a 2-Year Draftsman Training Course Certificate or Diploma from any Government-recognized institute.

For Works Supervisor - SL-2 (Rs. 15,900-50,400/month):

• You need to have passed Matriculation (10th) or its equivalent from a recognized institute/university.
• You also need an ITI Certificate in Building Construction or Carpentry Trade, issued by JKBOTE or the Directorate General of Training, Government of India.

• Domicile: You must be a Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir with a valid Domicile Certificate on or before the cut-off date.
• Reservation: Vacancies are reserved for SC, ST-1, ST-2, OBC, RBA, ALC/IB and EWS candidates as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules. Horizontal reservation applies for Ex-Servicemen (on posts up to Level-6E) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as per extant rules.

Age Limit

• Open Merit candidates should not be more than 40 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• SC / ST-1 / ST-2 / RBA / ALC-IB / EWS / OBC: upper age limit is 43 years.
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): upper age limit is 42 years.
• Age Relaxation: Ex-servicemen can deduct their actual period of armed forces service from their age; if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum limit by more than 3 years, they are considered eligible.

Salary

• Draftsman (Civil): Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month under Pay Level-4 of the 7th Pay Commission.
• Works Supervisor: Rs. 15,900 to Rs. 50,400 per month under Pay Scale SL-2.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Jammu & Kashmir Government rules.

• SC / ST-1 / ST-2 / EWS / PwBD: Rs. 500

• Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other exam.

Selection Process

Selection for both posts is based purely on merit in the written exam:

1. Written Examination (OMR-based): Objective type Multiple Choice Questions in English only, with 0.25 marks negative marking for every wrong answer.
2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates must produce original Domicile, Category and Qualification certificates. Candidates who fail to appear for DV or produce the required documents will not be considered for selection.

Note: Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities can avail a scribe and/or 20 minutes compensatory time per hour of examination, subject to submitting the prescribed certificate and undertaking.

3. Select the post(s) (Item No. 93-96) you want to apply for based on your qualification and division preference.
4. Fill in the online application form with your personal and educational details.
5. Upload your photo, signature, category certificate and qualification documents.
6. Pay the application fee of Rs. 600 (or Rs. 500 for SC/ST-1/ST-2/EWS/PwBD) online.
7. Submit the form and save your application number for future reference.

Note: Once submitted, the application form cannot be changed. Do not wait till the last day to apply, as the website may get heavy traffic near the closing date.
