JIPMER Project Nurse-III Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry is hiring Project Nurse-III and Project Technical Support-II staff for an ICMR-funded research project in its Department of Emergency Medicine and Trauma. The study builds and tests a frailty-triggered co-management pathway for elderly trauma patients in Indian emergency departments, and it is led by Dr Amaravathi U, Assistant Professor.

These are contract posts tied to the project. You are first engaged for one year, and the term can be stretched, based on your performance, up to the end of the project on 30 November 2029. Because patients are counselled and consented in Tamil and English, and follow-up includes home visits in Puducherry and nearby districts, comfortable Tamil speakers have a clear edge.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Nurse-III: the clinical arm of the study, based in the Emergency Department and working with adults aged 60 and above who arrive with injuries.
• Project Technical Support-II: the data arm of the study, looking after the study database, case record forms and follow-up tracking.

Post-wise Duties

Project Nurse-III

You will screen elderly trauma patients in the Emergency Department, score their frailty on the Clinical Frailty Scale, and take informed consent from them or their legal representatives. Once a patient qualifies, you set the co-management pathway in motion with the emergency, trauma and geriatric teams and log each step with time stamps.

Your daily round includes delirium screening (CAM-ICU) and filling the case record forms. Before discharge you counsel patients on transitional care, then follow them up at 7-14 days and again at 90 days by phone and home visits. Expect rotational shifts, including nights, Sundays and holidays.

Project Technical Support-II

You will enter, clean and manage the study database, and keep the case record forms and study files in order. You will also pull time-stamped process data from the Hospital Information System, maintain follow-up schedules and tracking logs, and help with phone follow-ups, reports and procurement records.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• No regular job claim: The post is purely contractual for an externally funded project, and it gives you no claim to any regular post in JIPMER.
• Extension or curtailment: The Project Investigator can extend or cut short the engagement.
• Consolidated pay: The monthly amount already includes house rent allowance. No other allowance or facility is given, and the amount may change over time.
• Assigned work: The listed duties are indicative. Refusing project work assigned by the PI, including shift duty and field visits, counts as unsatisfactory performance and can end the engagement without notice.
• Experience rule: Experience must be in a relevant field and gained after your essential qualification.
• Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates are called. The eligible list goes up on the JIPMER website, and stricter criteria may be used if there are a very large number of applications.
• Interview mode: In person or by video conference, at the PI's choice. The date is announced one week in advance, and for an online interview you must arrange your own device and internet.
• No TA/DA: You will not be paid travel costs for the interview.
