IIT Mandi JRF Power Electronics Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow in the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering for an ANRF-funded project. The research examines damped non-Hermitian lattice metamaterials with flexoelectric and piezoelectric coupling for wave localisation and energy harvesting. Within that wider project, the advertised research focus is the design, analysis and control of power-electronic converters for energy harvesting. This creates a bridge between electrical engineering theory, converter design and an advanced materials-based energy application.

The project is led by Dr Amit Kumar Singha and runs through the institute's Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy framework. The core academic route covers electrical engineering and closely related electronics branches, while GATE qualification in one of the named papers is also part of the advertised requirement. A relevant postgraduate specialisation is desirable rather than essential, so the position remains open to a qualifying BTech graduate who has the required foundation. Power electronics, control systems, power systems and electrical machines are the most directly aligned areas for applicants who want to show a strong research fit. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary engagement: The role is project-based and does not create a claim to a permanent institute post.

• Renewal: Further engagement for a few months or a year depends on satisfactory performance and cannot extend beyond the project.
• Shortlisting standard: IIT Mandi may set a higher screening threshold when many profiles meet the advertised minimum.
• Reserved-category marks: Relaxation in marks may be allowed to SC/ST applicants under Government of India norms.
• Retired government staff: If a retired or superannuated government employee is selected, pay will be fixed under the applicable Government of India rules.
