The Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (ICSR) at IIT Madras has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt.130/2026, dated 10 July 2026, for one AI Engineer position under the guidance of Prof. Bijoy Krishna Das, Department of Electrical Engineering. The role sits within the Silicon Photonics CoE-CPPICS and focuses on building AI solutions for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiatives -- the shared digital platforms that power large-scale public service delivery. The job is initially for one year and can be extended based on performance. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to design AI applications that improve public service delivery, boost operational efficiency, and enable data-driven decision-making. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution. Candidates with an M.Tech or higher are preferred.
• Experience: You should have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML solutions. Experience building AI applications for government, enterprise, or Digital Public Infrastructure projects is a plus.
• Skills: Hands-on experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), MLOps practices, Linux, Git, and API integration is expected.
• Qualification proof: If your qualification is from a foreign university or claimed as equivalent, you will need to produce an equivalence certificate.
• Experience requirements may be relaxed for SC/ST candidates at the Institute's discretion, if enough suitably experienced candidates from these categories are not available.

Salary

Selection Process

IIT Madras will shortlist and select candidates through the following stages:

1. Skill Test: The Institute may conduct a written or skill-based test to shortlist candidates for the interview, based on qualifications and experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
3. Document Verification: Your certificates and experience documents will be verified before final selection.
