IIT Kanpur Research Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is hiring a Research Associate-I for its Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering. The post belongs to the project Centre of Excellence on Innovative and Integrated Ecosystems for Green Hydrogen, run by Dr. Shobit Omar. It is a contractual project position, not a regular institute post, so think of it as a research stint inside a funded hydrogen programme.

The lab behind this opening works on electroceramics, and the advert asks for people who have handled hydrogen safely during gas-atmosphere testing. If you have built or tested solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), including cell and stack assembly, the notice says that experience counts in your favour. This is a good fit if you finished a PhD in materials, ceramics or electrochemistry and want hands-on device work at an IIT.
