IIT Jammu SRF or JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is hiring a research fellow for a project on non-destructive testing of glass-fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates. The work sits in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and examines moisture damage and separation between layers in these composite materials.
The project uses ultra-wideband (UWB) radio frequency (RF) techniques and has support from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), NRB, India. You would join a project appointment at IIT Jammu, with the fellowship offered at SRF or JRF level as alternatives.
Posts and Disciplines
- Senior Research Fellow (SRF): The senior fellowship route belongs to the same composite-testing project and research team.
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): The junior fellowship is the alternative route for this project appointment. The notice describes a shared research brief rather than separate projects for the two levels.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial tenure: The appointment begins with a one-year term. Further extensions may be offered annually, depending on your performance.
- Possible doctoral study: A PhD opportunity may be available depending on performance and institute vacancies. The fellowship does not guarantee admission. You must separately meet the institute’s PhD conditions, apply to the programme and receive the selection committee’s recommendation.
- Travel costs: You must cover your own costs for attending an offline interview or joining the position. The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for these purposes.
- Accuracy of your application: You are responsible for the information, photographs and supporting material you provide. Make sure the details reflect your actual academic and work record.
- Language of the notice: The advertisement contains Hindi and English text. If the versions create uncertainty, the English version is final.
जिम्मेदारियाँ
- Lead experimental fabrication of GFRP composite plates.
- Test composite plates affected by moisture degradation and delamination.
- Design RF sensing setups for composite evaluation.
- Integrate specialised antenna arrays into the sensing system.
- Analyse microwave interactions with composite materials.
- Develop non-destructive imaging algorithms and signal-processing methods to reconstruct internal defects.
