IIT Guwahati has invited applications for one Junior Research Fellow (Direct) position under the project titled "Unravelling the Functional Mechanism of Target Recognition and Cleavage in an Unusual CRISPR-Cas System" at the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. The position is co-terminus with the project and runs for around 4 months. Selection is based purely on an online interview — there is no written test. This is a good opportunity for life sciences graduates with a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or structural biology who want to gain research experience at one of India's top technical institutes.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech or MSc in life sciences or biotechnology, with research experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, or Structural Biology.
• Mandatory: You must have qualified NET/GATE or an equivalent national eligibility test.
• Desirable: Sound experience in bioinformatics, cloning, protein expression and purification, and standard molecular biology techniques.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 37,000 per month as fellowship plus Rs. 7,400 HRA, totaling Rs. 44,400 per month.
• No medical allowance is provided for this position.

The selection will be done in 1 stage:

1. Online Interview: Scheduled for 27 August 2026 at 11:00 AM through video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will get the meeting link by email. No separate call letter will be sent.
