ICMR NIRDH Technical Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICMR-National Institute for Research in Digital Health (ICMR-NIRDH) is hiring a Consultant (Technical - Non-Medical) on contract at its New Delhi institute. The role supports digital-health research and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, with a focus on turning research evidence into scientific publications and funding proposals. The institute is based at the NBCC Building, East Kidwai Nagar, although the appointment carries a wider posting liability.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: Your contract normally runs for one year. An extension depends on your performance and the institute's continuing project needs; it is not an automatic continuation of the original appointment.
• Overall tenure: Extensions cannot take the engagement beyond five years in total. The notice also sets an age-based stopping condition, recorded with the additional requirements.
• Funding and approval: Continuation depends on available funds, functional needs and approval from the competent authority. The appointment serves a temporary requirement and ends when that requirement ends.
• Posting liability: You would normally work at ICMR-NIRDH, but the institute may post you elsewhere. You must be prepared to serve in any part of India if the assignment calls for it.
• No regular appointment claim: This contract gives you no right to a permanent position, absorption or another assignment within ICMR or a government department. Working across multiple projects, with or without breaks, does not change that condition.
• Regular-staff facilities: Provident Fund, pension, Leave Travel Concession, medical claims and staff quarters available to regular staff do not apply to this engagement. Plan around the contract's own terms rather than the facilities attached to a regular government post.
• Travel arrangements: The institute will not reimburse travel or daily expenses for attending an assessment or discussion. You must arrange your own transport and accommodation.
• Leave terms: Leave and other engagement conditions follow the Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines dated 26 November 2024.
• Recruitment discretion: The institute may change the number of positions or modify, withdraw or cancel the recruitment. Its advertised requirement does not commit it to filling the position.
• Accuracy and conduct: False information can lead to rejection or termination even after joining, with further action where applicable. Canvassing also disqualifies your application, and the competent authority's decision is final.

• Lead systematic reviews and meta-analyses on digital health and AI in healthcare, including protocols, searches, screening and evidence assessment.
• Draft scientific manuscripts, submit them to journals and manage revisions and reviewer responses.
• Prepare grant proposals, budgets, work plans, ethics details and data-sharing plans, and manage portal submissions.
• Develop study protocols and standard operating procedures, and coordinate rapid reviews, scoping reviews and policy briefs.
• Analyse research data, create figures and keep reproducible workflows with version control.
• Coordinate inputs from clinicians, data scientists, regulators and industry, and maintain research repositories under institutional policies.
• Mentor junior staff in scientific writing, reference management and good research practice.
• Track deliverables and report monthly progress on reviews, manuscripts and grant applications.
