GMC Anantnag Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, run by the Health & Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir, is looking for Senior Residents in Radiation Oncology (Radiotherapy). The posts are tenure posts filled on an Academic Arrangement Basis, so this is a fixed-term residency and not a permanent faculty job. Only doctors who are domiciled in the Union Territory of J&K can apply.

If you have finished your MD or DNB in Radiation Oncology and want hands-on cancer care experience at a teaching hospital in the Valley, this is worth a look. The eligibility follows the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025, which the department adopted through Government Order No. 383-JK(HME) of 2024. Selection rests entirely on an MCQ-based written test, so there is no interview round to prepare for.

Both fresh post-graduates and in-service doctors can apply, but the rules for the two groups differ. Doctors who have already spent some time as a Senior Resident elsewhere may still be allowed to finish the rest of their three-year term here, as explained below.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: You are engaged for one year first, and this can be extended year by year up to a maximum of three years, only if your Head of Department certifies satisfactory performance.
• Earlier senior residency: If you have already completed a senior residency, you cannot apply. If you have done 30 months or less, you can apply to complete the remaining period of the three-year term.
• Non-in-service doctors: You are engaged under S.O. 364 of 2020 and paid a stipend as per that order. If you are currently a Senior Resident elsewhere, bring an NOC or relieving order from that institute.
• In-service doctors: Your form is considered only with an NOC from your parent department under the J&K Civil Service Rules, and you keep drawing salary as per your LPC. In-service doctors who have done or are doing a senior residency elsewhere cannot apply.
• Affidavit: You must give an affidavit attested by a Judicial Magistrate (1st Class) confirming your J&K domicile, your residency history and that your form details are true.
• Agreement and notice: Selected doctors sign an agreement not to leave before completing six months. Leaving needs one month's notice on either side, or one month's pay is withheld.
• Experience certificate: No experience certificate is issued if you leave before serving at least six months.
• Waiting list and ties: A waiting list stays valid for three months from the selection list. If two candidates score the same, the older candidate gets preference.
• Provisional selection: Your candidature stays provisional until your character, antecedents and certificates are checked. A false declaration cancels the selection.

Application Submission Notes

You apply online on the GMC Anantnag website, uploading scans of your original certificates (scans of photocopies are not accepted). After that, you must also hand in a signed hard copy of the form with self-attested copies of all documents and the fee receipt details at the Establishment Section, Main Campus Dialgam, Government Medical College Anantnag by the closing date.

Details cannot be changed once the online form is submitted, and forms with blurred photos or signatures are rejected. Keep your email ID and phone number active until selection is over.
