Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is engaging retired officials as consultants in Bengaluru. The assignments support aero-engine testing, visual records of technical work, and human resource administration. These are short-term contractual assignments tied to specific work at the establishment.

Posts and Disciplines

• Data Acquisition and Monitoring System: The technical assignment supports the systems used to collect and monitor information during aero-engine tests.
• Photography: This technical assignment covers visual records of engine tests, components, projects and institutional activities.
• Admin and Allied: This assignment supports the HR division's training and staff-related programmes during a period of increased workload and staff retirements.

Post-wise Duties

Data Acquisition and Monitoring System Consultant

You will support engine-test data systems, including their readiness checks, operation and upkeep. The work also involves sensor calibration, wiring layouts, fault finding and technical support for upgraded or new test facilities.

Photography Consultant

You will create photographic and video records before, during and after technical tests. You will also document components and official events, then edit, catalogue and archive the material so teams can retrieve it for reports and presentations.

Admin and Allied Consultant

You will help coordinate HR programmes and records, including training, higher studies, apprenticeships and consultancy engagements. The work includes tracking files and approvals, supporting assessments, keeping records for audits and coordinating institutional events.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract lasts one year and may be extended under the applicable norms. Engagement does not amount to re-employment or create a right to regular appointment or absorption in DRDO.
• Authority: Consultants cannot exercise statutory, legal or financial powers. Your work must stay within the assignment's terms of reference.
• Working arrangements: Normal office hours apply, but work may also be needed on holidays or beyond those hours. The notice does not provide extra benefits or leave for such additional service.
• Leave: Paid leave accrues at 1.5 days for each completed month. It cannot be carried beyond the calendar year.
• Confidentiality: Sharing or publishing assignment information needs prior approval. DRDO owns the intellectual property in the data and deliverables, and you must return assignment records before the contract ends or final payment is released.
• Outside activities: You must disclose conflicts of interest and avoid outside professional or business activities that conflict with government interests.
• Ending the assignment: The authority may terminate the contract with one week's written notice. You may resign with one month's notice; payment instead of notice remains subject to the authority's decision.
• Review: The office will monitor work and deliverables. DRDO may cancel the recruitment or accept or reject applications under the conditions stated in the advertisement.
