DME Tripura Dental Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Government of Tripura is hiring senior dental teachers for Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital (AGDC), which works under the state's Health and Family Welfare Department. This drive fills Professor and Associate Professor posts across four dental specialities on a contract basis. Selection is through a walk-in interview, but you first have to send your application in the college's own format — the interview date will be announced later.
If you hold an MDS or a DNB in one of these subjects and have the teaching years the Dental Council of India (DCI) asks for, this is a direct route into faculty work at Agartala without a written exam. Your academic record carries as much weight as your interview performance.

- Professor – Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: an unreserved (UR) senior teaching post in restorative and root-canal dentistry.
- Professor – Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics: an unreserved post; the first page of the notice lists this discipline simply as Orthodontics.
- Associate Professor – Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
- Associate Professor – Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge: also reserved for ST candidates.
- Associate Professor – Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry: an unreserved post in children's dental care.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tripura domicile: The posts are meant for Indian nationals with Tripura state domicile, and a Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC) is mandatory. This condition is relaxed only when no suitable state-domicile candidate is found for a post.
- Contract term: The engagement runs for 11 months and can be renewed further if your performance is satisfactory.
- ST-reserved posts: If no suitable ST/SC candidate is available, the post will go to a suitable UR candidate.
- Placement: The authority can shift any contract faculty member to any discipline at any time as the institution needs.
- Leave: Your leave will follow the TDES rules.
- Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
- Changes: The competent authority can amend or cancel the advertisement at any stage.
Application Submission Notes
Use the prescribed application format. You can collect it from the office of Agartala Government Dental College on any working day between 11 AM and 4 PM, or download it from the official websites. Address the application to The Principal, Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital, IGM Hospital Complex, Agartala, West Tripura – 799001 and hand it in at the college's Receipt Section before 5 PM on the closing day.
Attach two sets of self-attested documents, a hand-written undertaking that your details are true, and copies of Form 16 for the last three years. Bring all original certificates at the time of selection. Watch dme.tripura.gov.in and agdc.tripura.gov.in for the interview date.
