DDMA Charaideo Information Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Charaideo, working under the Office of the District Commissioner, Charaideo in Assam, is hiring Information Assistants for its District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC). The DEOC is the district's control room for floods, fires, accidents and other emergencies, and it runs round the clock. This is a purely contractual job, offered one year at a time. It suits local graduates who are good with computers and comfortable in both Assamese and English.

Think of it as a control-room desk job. You take in reports from revenue circles, the police control room and news channels, cross-check them with officials, and pass verified alerts to fire services, ambulance (108), police and other agencies. During the flood season the work picks up, with daily rainfall, water-level and flood reports going to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) by a fixed time every afternoon.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Local residents only: You must be a resident of Charaideo district.
• Language: You need fluency in spoken and written Assamese and English.
• Computer skills: A certificate or diploma in computer applications of at least six months, or proven work experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet use and Assamese typing.
• DEOC experience: Two to five years of work in a DEOC is preferred, not compulsory.
• Contract terms: The contract runs for one year and is renewed each year based on a performance appraisal. It gives you no claim to a regular post or any future appointment.
• Termination: Your service can end at any time for insubordination, misconduct or poor performance.
• Shift duty: The DEOC works 24 x 7, so expect shift duty. You cannot leave your shift until you hand over to the next person and brief them on what happened.
• No TA/DA: You get no travel allowance for attending the written test or interview.

Fill the application in the standard form with attested copies of your certificates and a recent passport-size photo, and put it in the drop box at the District Disaster Management Branch, Room No. 8, Office of the District Commissioner, Charaideo. Forms that arrive after 5:00 PM on the closing day are rejected, and applications by email or fax are not accepted.

• Send verified alerts to designated contacts by SMS, phone and email after the In-Charge approves
• Collect daily rainfall and water-level reports and compile flood reports for the SEOC during the flood season
• Pass flood early warning (FLEWS) and earthquake alerts to circle officers and field staff
• Check that all DEOC equipment works and report repairs to the In-Charge
• Update the DEOC contact list every month and brief the next shift before handing over
