CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune, is engaging a Senior Project Associate in its Polymer Science and Engineering (PSE) Division under advertisement 2026/CSIR-NCL/PSE/MMP035202/878. The position sits on the CSIR-funded project "Sustainable Polymer-Based Packaging Solutions" (project code MMP035202). This is a purely temporary, project-linked engagement, not a regular CSIR post.

The work is hands-on lab chemistry: making monomers and polymers and characterising them for greener packaging materials. If you already have research experience in organic or polymer synthesis at a research institute or in industry, you will get preference during shortlisting.

The notice accepts two academic routes. Chemistry postgraduates need a longer stretch of R&D experience, while engineering or technology postgraduates and chemistry PhD holders qualify with a shorter one. Experience only counts if it was in R&D at an industrial or academic institution, or in a science and technology organisation, so describe that work clearly.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The engagement is coterminous with the sponsored project and continues only with satisfactory performance and conduct.
• Not a CSIR appointment: The role gives you no claim to any CSIR-NCL post or fellowship, temporary or otherwise.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview. A Screening Committee may limit the interview list based on qualifications and experience beyond the minimum, so mention all your relevant qualifications and experience in the form.
• Online interview: Shortlisted candidates face the Selection Committee online through Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx or a similar platform. The meeting link is sent by email.
• No call letters: No separate interview call letter is issued; the shortlist is put up on the website and the divisional notice board.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance is paid for the interview.
• Joining: Selected candidates must join immediately after receiving the offer of engagement.
