Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) is recruiting Junior Engineering Assistant IV staff for refinery operations and maintenance under Advertisement No. 01 of 2026, reference CPCL/HRD:03:055. The non-executive recruitment covers Production, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation work.

Subject-wise Breakdown

  • General Aptitude: 50 questions (Verbal Ability, General Knowledge, Reasoning/Logical Deduction, Numerical Ability)
  • Discipline Knowledge: 70 questions related to your engineering discipline

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.

Qualifying Marks: You need at least 40% marks to qualify (35% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved posts).

Selected candidates get a starting basic pay of Rs. 25,000 per month in the IDA scale of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1,05,000, plus DA, HRA and other allowances.

You need 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience and the qualification for your discipline: Production accepts a three-year diploma in Chemical, Petroleum or Petrochemical Engineering/Technology, or BSc with Chemistry as a major subject; Mechanical requires a Mechanical Engineering diploma; Electrical accepts Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Instrumentation accepts Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Electronics, Instrumentation and Control, or Electronics and Communication Engineering. The minimum is 60% aggregate; 55% applies to SC candidates against reserved positions, and to PwBD candidates against reserved Mechanical/Electrical positions. Read the advertisement for the post-specific industrial experience requirements.

Selection is based on a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Skill/Physical Test (SPPT), Document Verification and a Medical Examination.
