Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) is hiring 60 Junior Engineering Assistant-IV across four disciplines — Production, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation. CPCL, a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking and a Group Company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, has released Advertisement No. 01 of 2026 (CPCL/HRD:03:055) for 60 Non-Executive posts of Junior Engineering Assistant-IV at its Chennai refinery, which has a refining capacity of 10.5 MMTPA. The recruitment covers four disciplines — Production, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation — and includes 3 backlog vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), being filled for the third time. Diploma holders with relevant industry experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer or large industrial establishments should apply.

Vacancy Details

• Of the 60 posts, 3 are backlog vacancies reserved for PwBD candidates (this is the 3rd attempt to fill them).
• Women candidates are considered only for the Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation posts — not for Production, due to mandatory shift and night-duty requirements.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production):

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Chemical/Petroleum/Petrochemical Engineering/Technology, or B.Sc with Chemistry as a major subject, with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC candidates against reserved posts).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-qualification work experience in Continuous Process Units of Refining, Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertilizer or Gas Processing industries.

For Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Mechanical):

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved posts).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance of rotary equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines and boilers.

For Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Electrical):

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved posts).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance of electrical equipment like motors, transformers, generators and switchgear.

For Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Instrumentation):

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Electronics / Instrumentation & Control / Electronics & Communication Engineering with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC candidates against reserved posts).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance of process control instrumentation with knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and PLCs.

Diploma holders admitted through the lateral entry scheme (after Class XII Science / ITI) are also eligible, subject to meeting the prescribed percentage across all 4 semesters.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 30 years as on 01 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years.
• PwBD: 10 years relaxation (General), 13 years (OBC) and 15 years (SC), if applying against reserved positions.
• Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation equal to service rendered in the Armed Forces plus 3 years, up to a maximum age of 50 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will be appointed in the Non-Supervisory Cadre (Grade IV) with a starting basic pay of Rs. 25,000 per month, in the IDA pay scale of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1,05,000.
• You will also get DA, HRA/Self-Lease, PF, Gratuity, LTC/LFA, medical expense reimbursement and superannuation benefits as per Corporation rules.

• SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen / Women candidates: No fee.

Selection Process

CPCL will select candidates in the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): 120 objective-type MCQs for 120 marks — 50 questions on General Aptitude and 70 questions on Discipline Knowledge — in 2 hours. A penalty of 0.25 marks applies for every wrong answer. You need at least 40% marks to qualify (35% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved posts). The CBT is tentatively scheduled for September/October 2026 at Chennai only.
2. Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT): Qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio (three candidates per post) based on CBT marks.
