APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is recruiting Assistant Statistical Officers (ASO) for the A.P. Economics and Statistical Subordinate Service. परीक्षा पैटर्न
You take an objective computer-based recruitment test (CBRT). The written scheme totals 300 questions for 300 marks.
- Paper 1: General Studies and Mental Ability, with 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes.
- Paper 2: Subject paper, with 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes. The supplied syllabus includes dispersion, skewness, correlation, time series and index numbers.
Negative marking: Each wrong answer loses 1/3 of that question's marks.
Single-level written examination: APPSC will not hold a screening test, regardless of application numbers. If the examination runs in multiple sessions, marks may be normalized under a method the Commission will announce.
Computer Proficiency Test
You will have 60 minutes for the practical office-automation test worth 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 30 for SC/ST/PBD, 35 for BC and 40 for OC.

You need the following qualification: Bachelor's degree with Statistics as a main subject, or Mathematics, Economics, Commerce or Computer Science as a main subject with Statistics studied as a paper in at least one year. The degree must be from a recognized university, a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government. You must hold the qualification on the date of the detailed notification.
You must apply online through https://psc.ap.gov.in, the route named in the notice. Applications open on 13 October 2026. Read the detailed notification before applying, as other application modes are not accepted.
The notified monthly pay scale is Rs. 37,640–1,15,500 per month. You should check the detailed notice for any further pay conditions.
The notice specifies an objective computer-based written examination without a screening test. Its annexure also includes a Computer Proficiency Test.
