AIIMS Kalyani Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani is filling Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts in five departments at its campus in Kalyani, West Bengal. AIIMS Kalyani is one of the newer AIIMS set up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to bring top-level hospital care and medical training to the eastern region. These are tenure posts on contract under the Central Residency Scheme, not permanent jobs. The interviews run in a hybrid mode — you can face the panel online or in person at the institute — so doctors living far from Kalyani can take part without travelling.

Posts and Disciplines

• Dermatology: clinical residency for doctors holding an MD or DNB (or equivalent) in Dermatology.
• General Surgery: the largest group in this round, for MS or DNB General Surgery holders.
• Microbiology: laboratory-side residency for MD or DNB Microbiology holders.
• Pharmacology: para-clinical residency for MD or DNB Pharmacology holders.
• Pathology: diagnostic and laboratory residency for MD or DNB Pathology holders.

You can apply to more than one department, but each department needs its own form and its own application fee.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The post is on contract for a maximum of three years under the Central Residency Scheme and is governed by the CCS (Temporary Service) Rules.
• Reserved seats only: Every seat in this round is earmarked for OBC, ST and EWS candidates. Others may apply against the EWS seat, but they are considered only if no EWS candidate is available, and without any category relaxation.
• OBC status: Your caste must be in the Central List of OBCs and you must be outside the creamy layer, or you will not be considered for a reserved seat.
• PwD quota: 4% of seats are reserved horizontally for PwD-OPH (One Leg) candidates able to sit, stand, walk, use their fingers and read and write; you join only after a medical board certifies your fitness.
• Cut-off date: Your qualification, experience and age are counted up to the day this notice was published on the AIIMS Kalyani website.
• Whole-time job: Private practice of any kind is not allowed.
• Posting: You may be sent for a period to the rural and urban health centres attached to the institute.
• Housing: Campus housing is limited; if you do not get a quarter, you receive HRA at central government rates for Kalyani.
• Joining: Apply only if you can join within 15 days of the offer of engagement.
• Working doctors: Take permission from your current employer before applying and bring a No Objection Certificate to the interview.
• Waiting list: A seat that falls vacant because a selected doctor does not join or resigns goes to the waiting list in merit order.
• Travel costs: No TA, DA or accommodation is paid for attending the interview.
