AIAIC CTO Recruitment 2026: Overview

Artificial Intelligence and AgriTech Innovation Centre (AIAIC), Maharashtra is recruiting a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in Mumbai under the state's Agriculture Department. The selected person will also serve as Technical Head of the State Agriculture Department, with a remit across its digital, data and artificial intelligence initiatives. This is a contractual leadership appointment supporting the Maha Agri-AI Policy.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Combined appointment: CTO and Technical Head describe the same appointment. The role sits within AIAIC while its scope extends across the Agriculture Department's administrative units, programmes and schemes.
• Reporting arrangement: You will report to the Managing Director of AIAIC. The position links the centre's technical capacity with the wider department's technology needs.
• Contract: The initial term is three years. An extension of up to two years depends on satisfactory annual performance assessments and approval from the competent authority. The extension is conditional rather than automatic.
• Workplace: The notice places the role in Mumbai. Its department-wide remit covers initiatives across Maharashtra, while the named base for this appointment remains Mumbai.
• Programme setting: AIAIC's named platforms include MahaVISTAAR, Maharashtra Agriculture Data Exchange (MahaAgX), the AI Sandbox and the Traceability Platform. These provide the programme context for the centre's technology leadership.
• Agricultural focus: The centre describes MahaVISTAAR as a bilingual advisory platform and MahaAgX as a platform for consent-based agricultural data exchange. Its wider work also includes traceability, innovation support and capacity building for agricultural users.
• Appointment discretion: Selection or nomination follows consultation with the constituted committee and the required official approvals. The government may accept or reject an application without giving a reason.

• Set the department's technology roadmap and modernise applications under the Maha Agri-AI Policy.
• Lead AIAIC's application engineering, cloud, data and artificial intelligence capabilities.
• Define architecture and security standards for departmental platforms and technology investments.
• Direct MahaVISTAAR, MahaAgX, the AI Sandbox and the Traceability Platform using interoperable standards.
• Manage model operations, responsible AI controls, enterprise data standards and cybersecurity.
• Plan cloud operations, disaster recovery, business continuity and cost control.
• Lead technical procurement, vendor evaluations and service-provider oversight.
• Build technical teams and partnerships with startups, universities, research bodies and industry.
