PU Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Presidency University (PU) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow at its Institute of Health Sciences in Kolkata for a project funded by the Lady Tata Memorial Trust (LTMT). The study focuses on targeted therapy for chronic myeloid leukemia that develops imatinib resistance independently of BCR-ABL1. You will join a collaborative research project led by Dr. Somsubhra Nath with Dr. Mayukh Biswas as co-investigator, while Dr. Rakesh Pandey of Banaras Hindu University will also co-guide the fellow.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Research setting: The project brings together work on gene activity and DNA methylation to identify possible treatment targets. Its focus is a particular form of drug resistance, with the aim of supporting clinical management of the disease.
• Initial tenure: Your assignment runs until 30 September 2027. Annual extensions depend on satisfactory work and the availability of funds, and cannot run beyond the project duration.
• Project duration: The funded project spans three years. This duration describes the project itself; extensions to your appointment remain conditional.
• Partner facilities: The work involves frequent visits to collaborating institutes. You should be ready for research activities across partner facilities as well as the university's Institute of Health Sciences.
• Doctoral study: You may be allowed to register for a Ph.D. under university rules. The notice makes this a possibility linked to those rules, so registration is not automatic with appointment.
• Travel costs: The university will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview.
• Governing terms: LTMT and Presidency University guidelines apply to the engagement.
