MVC Veterinary Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Veterinary College (MVC), part of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU), is recruiting veterinary scientists for an Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) sponsored project at Parel, Mumbai. The work belongs to the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Post Harvest Engineering and Technology. These are project contracts, with research linked to food safety, livestock products and the practical use of technologies developed by the team.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Scientist, Veterinary Science: This role combines research planning with supervision of the project team and management of laboratory resources. The notice also links it to slaughterhouse waste use and the design of a model retail outlet.
• Scientist, Veterinary Science: This role focuses on risk assessment and food safety research, while supporting the Senior Scientist in carrying out the technical programme.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Scientist

You will plan research under the project technical programme, coordinate the work of junior team members and report to the Principal Investigator. Laboratory equipment and stores also fall within this role, so the work combines scientific direction with day-to-day oversight of research resources.

The notice places particular emphasis on turning research into usable technology. You will work on new uses for slaughterhouse waste products, help develop the retail-outlet model and prepare project progress and final reports.

Scientist

You will carry out food safety and risk assessment research and help the Senior Scientist execute the research programme. The role connects the planned experiments with the wider aims of the post-harvest project.

Both roles include research communication: you will help turn project findings into journal articles, reviews and simpler publications for wider audiences. You will also help stakeholders understand the technologies developed under the project so they can consider adopting or commercialising them.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: Your contract ends when the project ends and may be terminated earlier. The appointment is tied to the project.
• Interview travel: The college will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview.
