MbPA Pilot Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) is recruiting Pilots on a regular basis through its General Administration Department. The work covers vessel movements and related marine operations at Mumbai Port. A key condition is that you first join as a Trainee Pilot and continue in that capacity until you complete training successfully and receive a pilot licence from the competent authority.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training before licensing: The initial Trainee Pilot appointment continues until both training and licensing requirements are met. Holding the professional qualification alone does not remove this condition.
• Work pattern: Pilotage follows a 24-hour on/off arrangement, with vessel movements handled according to operational needs. When assigned berthing or dredging duties, you may instead work 12-hour shifts.
• Different assignments: The notice covers pilotage, dock berthing, dredger postings and supervisory work in the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS). Your work can therefore involve these different marine operations.
• Open-ended notice: Applications remain under consideration if the notified posts stay unfilled or further regular vacancies arise. Check the authority's website periodically for recruitment updates.
• Pension: Selected candidates come under the New Contributory Pension Scheme. This condition forms part of the regular appointment terms.
