LPSSRB Fireman Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board (LPSSRB) is filling posts in the Ladakh Fire and Rescue Services of the Union Territory of Ladakh through direct recruitment. The drive covers four posts — Fireman, Fireman Driver, Fireman Ministerial and Sweeper/Safaiwala — and follows the newly amended UT of Ladakh Fire and Rescue (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Rules, 2026.

Nearly every post in this round falls on the Scheduled Tribe roster, with a single Fireman post set aside for the EWS category, so it is mainly an opportunity for Ladakh's ST candidates. Because a Ladakh domicile certificate is compulsory, only residents of the UT can apply. All tests run under Ladakh Police's Transparent Recruitment Process, which uses RFID timing, biometric checks and video recording of every physical event.

Posts and Disciplines

• Fireman: the core firefighting and rescue post and the biggest group in this drive. Your place in the merit list depends only on your written exam marks.
• Fireman Driver: the driving post of the fire service. You need a Light Motor Vehicle licence with transport (TRANS) endorsement, and the board's driving test score is added to your written exam marks.
• Fireman Ministerial: the office (ministerial) post of the service. On top of the physical tests, you face a computer typing test that you must clear to stay in the race.
• Sweeper/Safaiwala: the sanitation post, open to Class 10 pass candidates. Selection is through a running screening test and a trade test, with no written exam, and the upper age limit is higher than for the Fireman posts.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Domicile: You must hold a valid Domicile Certificate of the Union Territory of Ladakh, issued by the competent authority.
• Category certificate: To claim a reserved seat, your certificate must be issued in the prescribed format on or before the closing date of the online form.
• Horizontal quotas: Ex-Agniveers and Ex-Servicemen get horizontal reservation. The sportspersons (OSP) quota is not applied this time because there are too few posts, and unfilled horizontal seats are not carried forward where the rules say so.
• Typing test is a gate: Fireman Ministerial candidates who fail the typing test are dropped from the rest of the process.
• No re-runs: You normally get no second attempt at a PET event you fail. For height or chest, the Chairman may allow one re-measurement, and that result is final.
• Posting: Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in the UT of Ladakh or wherever the Administration decides.
• Training cost: If you resign within the prescribed period after appointment, you may have to refund training expenses and the pay and allowances received.
• Serving employees: Government employees must attach an NOC from their Head of Department with the application, or the candidature may be rejected.
• Tie-break: If two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher, then alphabetical order decides.
• Final checks: Appointment depends on a medical exam by the Medical Board and verification of character, antecedents and certificates; a false certificate can cancel the appointment at any time.
• Own expense: You attend every test at your own cost.

Application Submission Notes

Fill the online form through the recruitment link on the Ladakh Police website; the fee is paid online on the board's Recruitment Application Software (RAS) while submitting. You can edit the form until the closing date by logging in with your registered mobile number, but your date of birth and category cannot be changed after submission.

Pick your exam centre with care — tests are held at Leh and Kargil, and the centre cannot be changed after applications close. Enter your name and date of birth exactly as on your Class 10 certificate, upload a recent colour photo with a white background and no cap or glasses, and keep a printout of the submitted form. Send only one application — duplicates are rejected.
