Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is recruiting a Director for Research and Development through the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). This is a board-level role in the defence electronics company under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, with Bengaluru identified as the location. You would report to the Chairman and Managing Director, with a company-wide remit spanning aerospace, defence and civilian electronics.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Company context: BEL’s research network supports products ranging from radars, communication systems and electronic warfare equipment to medical electronics and security solutions. • Appointment term: The term runs for five years from joining, up to superannuation, or until further orders, whichever comes first. Keep this limit in mind when considering the role and the commitment you would make on joining.
• Immediate absorption: Central Government officers, including Armed Forces and All India Services officers, and officers from public sector banks, financial institutions and autonomous bodies can be considered only on an immediate-absorption basis.
• Joining commitment: Your application must include an undertaking that you will join if selected. An application without that undertaking will be rejected.
• Withdrawal after interview: If you later express unwillingness to join, a two-year bar on consideration for CPSE board posts applies from the interview date. For an applicant already in a CPSE, the bar concerns other CPSEs, rather than the applicant’s own enterprise.
• Withdrawal after an offer: Refusing after the appointment offer brings a two-year bar calculated from the offer date. The same distinction for applicants already working in a CPSE applies, and the notice excludes requests to relax these withdrawal conditions.

For CPSE applicants, board-level officers route their applications through the administrative ministry, while officers below board level use their enterprise. State-enterprise applicants follow the corresponding state authority or enterprise route; joint-venture and federation applicants use their nodal officer or competent authority.

Private-company applicants apply directly to PESB. Other applicants should account for the separate online forwarding requirement as well as their own form submission; sending a physical copy or an email does not meet the prescribed route.
