Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat is engaging a Counselling Psychologist on contract in the Office of the Dean of Student Welfare. The role supports students adjusting to campus life, academic pressure and personal challenges, with confidential counselling and residential outreach central to the assignment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The initial engagement lasts 11 months. Continued engagement depends on the institute's needs and your performance, with an institute committee assessing renewal and any increase in monthly pay.
• No regular appointment claim: This contract does not give you a right to move into a regular institute position. Treat it as a defined engagement within the student welfare service.
• Working schedule: You are expected to work six days a week for eight hours a day. Timings can change to suit students, and Sunday or holiday duties may be assigned when needed.
• Holiday duties: Additional payment is not available for work required on holidays. This matters if you are planning other professional commitments alongside the campus assignment.
• Leave and attendance: The contract allows eight days of casual leave over the initial tenure. Unauthorised absence leads to a proportionate deduction from pay.
• Ending the contract: Either side may end the arrangement with 15 days' notice or 15 days' salary in place of notice. The notice allows termination without giving a reason.
• Campus assignment: Your headquarters will be Surat. The institute can assign or transfer you to another section or department within SVNIT according to its requirements.
• Professional confidentiality: Student concerns and crisis information must remain confidential, subject to the ethical, legal and institutional rules that apply to the situation.
• Travel costs: SVNIT will not reimburse travel or daily expenses for attending an interview or joining. Plan your visit and joining arrangements with this condition in mind.
• Preference: The advertisement expresses a preference for a female counsellor. It does not describe the position as exclusively reserved for women.
• Institute discretion: SVNIT may change the advertised staffing requirement, leave the position unfilled or cancel the advertisement. Disputes fall within Surat jurisdiction.
