SHSRC Meghalaya Fellow and Nursing Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Meghalaya is recruiting Health Systems Fellows and Nursing Consultants for work that connects health-worker training with everyday service delivery. The roles support the Department of Health and Family Welfare through field implementation and clinical mentoring. These are full-time contractual engagements, with different work bases and reporting arrangements for the two roles.

Posts and Disciplines

• Health Systems Fellow: Based in North Garo Hills, this role supports a pilot that tests a competency-based approach to developing health-worker skills before the state considers wider use.
• Nursing Consultant: Based at the Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre (RHFWTC), Shillong, this role supports district hospitals and other identified facilities across Meghalaya.
• Nursing specialisations: The consultant roles cover Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing and Community Health Nursing. Your clinical mentoring work will relate to your own specialisation.

Post-wise Duties

Health Systems Fellow

You will help turn the North Garo Hills pilot plan into day-to-day field activities. This includes coordinating training, assessments, coaching and visits with health facilities, district officials and state teams, while keeping track of progress and delays.

The role also includes practical arrangements and community research. You will help organise venues, materials and participant travel, keep activity records, and support interviews or group discussions about barriers to using health services.

You will help organise and interpret field findings so the programme team can respond to local problems. Research work must protect confidentiality and ensure that people understand their participation.

Nursing Consultant

You will visit facilities to understand gaps in nursing practice and patient care, work with staff on practical improvements and follow up on agreed actions. The role includes coaching nursing teams in assessment, monitoring, recognition of deterioration and timely escalation of care.

At RHFWTC, you will help improve training resources and clinical learning. The work includes contributing to teaching modules, assessment tools and skill-lab resources, supporting trainers, and recording what works when training is applied in real workplaces.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellow tenure: The fellowship is a full-time contract for 12 months. Fellows report jointly to SHSRC’s Senior Consultant for Human Resources for Health and RHFWTC’s Senior Training Consultant.
• Consultant tenure: Nursing Consultants receive a one-year contract with an initial three-month probation period. An extension depends on performance.
• Consultant supervision: You will join the RHFWTC team and report to its Principal. The Shillong base goes alongside work with district hospitals and other identified health facilities.
• Travel: Fellows should be ready for extensive travel within North Garo Hills, including community locations. Nursing Consultants should be ready to travel extensively across Meghalaya.
