Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is recruiting contract workmen for its Mumbai Ship Repair Unit (CMSRU). This is a fixed-term engagement linked to the company's project requirements, with deployment possible beyond Mumbai. CSL is a Government of India Miniratna Schedule A company, and this notice concerns its ship-repair operations.

Posts and Disciplines

• Fabrication Assistant: The trade covered here is welding.
• Outfit Assistant: This role is for the fitter pipe/plumber trade.
• Mooring and Scaffolding Assistant: This is the separate structural, mooring, scaffolding and rigging work stream.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The engagement can run for up to five years, depending on project needs and your performance. CSL does not promise continued employment after the contract ends.
• Posting and transfers: You may work at the Mumbai unit, another CSL unit or a project site. The appointment also allows deployment on board ships and at projects elsewhere in India or abroad, so you should be ready to move when work demands it.
• Travel expenses: You must meet your own travel and daily expenses for attending the recruitment process. CSL will not reimburse these costs.
• Rank-list validity: The list can remain valid for up to 18 months from the reporting date of the last candidate advised to join after results, or until a fresh notice for the same posts appears. CSL may use it for non-joining cases, later separations or approved future openings.
• No automatic appointment: A call letter or a place on the rank list does not guarantee a job. Actual engagement depends on suitable candidates, available projects and CSL's staffing needs.
• Workplace policy: If selected, you must give an undertaking to follow CSL's rules on smartphone use at work. The company does not take over liabilities connected with your previous employment.
• Communication: Call letters will not arrive by post. Watch your email and the CMSRU career page for messages, and respond within the stated time if CSL asks for clarification.
• Recruitment changes: CSL may alter or cancel the process or leave positions unfilled. Any amendments will appear on its website, and disputes connected with this notice fall under the courts and other competent forums at Ernakulam.
• Current CSL employees: Fabrication Assistants, Outfit Assistants and Mooring and Scaffolding Assistants already on CSL rolls on the notification date cannot apply under this notice.
