UAU Vice-Chancellor Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Government of Uttarakhand, through its Ayush & Ayush Education Department, is looking for the next Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurved University (UAU), Dehradun. UAU was set up under the Uttarakhand Ayurved University Act, 2009 and runs constituent colleges, hospitals and affiliated institutions across the state that teach Ayurveda and other traditional Indian systems of medicine at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level.

A Search and Selection Committee will shortlist and recommend the candidate, following UGC Regulations and the state university norms. This is a top leadership post — the committee wants a senior AYUSH academic or research administrator with a clear plan for growing Ayurvedic education, healthcare and research in Uttarakhand.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Term: The appointment runs for three years from the date of joining, subject to the University Act and the age limit in the statutes.
• Two routes to qualify: You can apply on the strength of professorial experience in a university or equivalent experience in a reputed research or academic administrative organisation. The notice asks you not to mix the two when you count your years.
• Clean record: No vigilance inquiry, departmental inquiry or legal proceeding may be pending against you when you apply or at any point during selection.
• Court cases: No case may have been filed against you before the Supreme Court or any High Court, and you must disclose every relevant litigation in the form.
• UGC standards: You must meet all the qualifications and standards the University Grants Commission prescribes for a Vice-Chancellor.
• Canvassing: Any form of canvassing leads to disqualification.
• No guarantee of appointment: The Search Committee may choose not to fill the post without giving reasons.

Download the prescribed application form from https://ayurved.uk.gov.in, fill every section and attach self-attested copies with a recent passport-size photograph. Put everything in a sealed envelope marked "Application for the Post of Vice-Chancellor, UAU" and send it by Registered or Speed Post only.

• Press note dated 15 October 2026: signed by the Secretary, AYUSH and AYUSH Education, it fixes a calendar closing date and time. The attached advertisement text still says "21 days from publication" — go by the date in the press note.
