NIT Warangal Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) project in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The research focuses on making green-hydrogen production more efficient and affordable by developing corrosion-resistant, electrically conductive coatings for porous transport layers and bipolar plates used in PEM water electrolysers.

The fellow will work where materials engineering meets clean-energy technology. You will help procure specialised project equipment, run controlled experiments, interpret results and turn the findings into detailed technical reports. Experience with electrolysers, fuel cells, coating processes or electrochemical characterisation will be particularly useful because these are central to the laboratory work.

This is a purely temporary research appointment tied to the sponsored project rather than a regular institute post. It is well suited to an engineering or science postgraduate who wants hands-on exposure to hydrogen systems, surface engineering and experimental materials research under an institute of national importance.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The appointment can continue for up to three years or until the project ends, whichever comes first. Continuation is linked to the sponsored work and does not create a claim to a permanent NIT Warangal post.
• Research registration: The selected fellow may register for a PhD at NIT Warangal under institute rules, but must apply separately when the institute opens a PhD admission notice.
• Campus facilities: Hostel and mess access may be offered on campus, subject to availability, alongside HRA under the rules applicable to NIT Warangal.
• Interview arrangements: Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed online or offline. For an online interview, you need a stable internet connection and an on-camera setup.
• Travel support: No TA or DA will be paid for attending an in-person interview.
• Communication: The institute will publish the eligible-candidate list on its website and may also contact applicants by email or phone.
