IISc Junior Security Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is hiring Junior Security Assistants for its Security and Fire Fighting department in Bengaluru. This is a campus-based contract engagement supporting the institute’s security operations. The notice also makes a specific provision for first-batch combatant Agniveers whose engagement is still in progress.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial contract: Your engagement starts from your joining date and runs for one year. Annual renewals depend on your performance and the institute’s needs, with a maximum total tenure of five years.
• Previous IISc service: If you previously worked at IISc through an HR Department appointment, that service counts towards the five-year limit. A fresh appointment does not restart the maximum tenure.
• Shift work: You must be ready for assigned shifts, including night duty. This is part of the campus security role.
• Service benefits: The contract does not give you a claim to provident fund, pension, seniority or promotion benefits. Keep this condition in mind when comparing the engagement with a regular appointment.
• Ending the contract: Either you or IISc can end the engagement by giving one month’s notice.
• Accommodation: IISc will not provide campus accommodation during your stay. You need to make your own arrangements.
• Travel costs: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the in-person assessment.
• Category choice: You cannot later change an unreserved application to a reserved category. Switching from one reserved category to another is also not permitted.
• Communication: IISc contacts shortlisted applicants through their registered email addresses. Check yours regularly, because applicants who are not shortlisted will not receive individual correspondence.
• Recruitment discretion: Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee a call. IISc can limit the shortlist, reject applications or cancel the recruitment.
• Accuracy of information: The institute may check your background and submitted information even after appointment. False certificates or concealed information can lead to rejection, termination and further proceedings.
