ESIC Bengaluru Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College and PGIMSR, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru is engaging Senior Residents on contract across its broad-speciality and super-speciality departments. ESIC runs this teaching hospital under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This is a rolling advertisement — there is no single walk-in day; you hand in your form on any Monday and the college calls eligible doctors for interview through its website. PG doctors with an MD, MS or DNB who want a residency in Bengaluru can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Pre- and para-clinical: Anatomy, Physiology and Forensic Medicine residencies for teaching-side doctors.
• Broad clinical specialities: General Medicine, Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Respiratory Medicine.
• Super-speciality departments: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology and Anaesthesiology with surgical super speciality — Neurosurgery and Surgical Oncology have the most seats in this group.
• Senior Resident against Medical Officer/GDMO: the Blood Bank and Emergency Medicine seats and part of the General Medicine seats are filled against GDMO posts under ESIC's HR norms.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Two kinds of tenure: Under the Central Residency Scheme you start with one year, extendable up to three years on performance. Seats against Medical Officer/GDMO are for one year only, with no extension.
• Past residents: If you have already completed a 3-year Senior Residency, you cannot apply. If you did a 1-year SR contract earlier, you get only two years, or your earlier service is deducted.
• Security deposit: Selected doctors deposit Rs. 1,00,000 (non-interest bearing) in favour of ESIC Fund A/C No.1. It is kept as administrative cost if you resign within the first year.
• Notice period: To resign at any time, give one month's notice or pay one month's salary.
• Registration: You must be registered with the Karnataka Medical Council or NMC/MCI before joining.
• OBC certificate: OBC candidates must use the Annexure "A" format prescribed by DoPT; certificates in any other format are treated as General category.
• No service benefits: No PF, pension, gratuity, medical allowance, seniority, promotion or leave benefits, and no right to a regular post.
• Waiting list: If you do not join by the given date, the next eligible doctor on the waiting list gets the seat.
• Bank account: Selected doctors must open a savings account in State Bank of India.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview or joining.
