Service Conditions and Caveats

• Faculty and Senior Resident tenure: The opening terms provide an initial one-year contract, with extensions up to three years based on satisfactory performance. Engagement can end earlier when a regular appointee joins.
• Junior Resident tenure: The opening paragraph specifies a one-year engagement only. A later general clause describes extensions more broadly, so confirm which clause applies to your offer.
• Private practice: You cannot carry out private practice in any capacity after joining as faculty, Senior Resident or Junior Resident.
• Resignation: Either side can end the contract with one month's prior notice. If you resign immediately, the notice requires a deposit equal to one month's salary into the ESI account through a challan.
• Attendance: Unauthorised absence beyond seven days is treated as abandonment and ends the engagement automatically. Teaching faculty must record attendance both manually and through the Aadhaar-enabled biometric system.
• Contract benefits: The terms exclude claims to service benefits such as provident fund, pension, gratuity, seniority and promotion through this appointment.
• Reserved openings: If suitable applicants from the reserved category are unavailable, ESIC may make a temporary appointment from another category for 44 days. Disability reservation follows the applicable government guidelines.
• Provisional positions: Openings can change with teaching and patient-care needs. The Dean may amend, postpone or cancel the recruitment under the notice's terms.
• Joining communication: Appointment offers are sent by email. If a selected applicant does not join within the period stated in the offer, ESIC may offer the position to someone on the waiting list.
• Travel costs: You must meet your own travel and daily expenses for attending or bringing records to the hospital.
