Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is engaging Specialty Medical Consultants and Medical Officers for its Group of Tuberculosis Hospitals at Sewri. This is a fixed-term clinical recruitment for the municipal public-health system, with anaesthesia, psychiatry and general medical work covered in one notice. The selected doctors will serve in a specialist tuberculosis hospital environment where emergency and medico-legal work may form part of regular duty.

The recruitment brings together senior specialist input and round-the-clock medical-officer support. Doctors who are comfortable with inpatient care, outpatient work and coordination across hospital units will find the roles most relevant.

Posts and Disciplines

• Specialty Medical Consultant, Anaesthesia: specialist cover for anaesthesia-related care, emergency support and clinical work assigned by the hospital head.
• Specialty Medical Consultant, Psychiatry: psychiatric assessment and specialist advice for patients receiving care within the tuberculosis-hospital network.
• Medical Officer: day and night clinical coverage for outpatient and inpatient units, procedures, referrals and hospital documentation.

Post-wise Duties

Specialty Medical Consultants

You will work under the hospital leadership, provide specialist services in the allotted unit and remain available when patient care needs emergency support. The notice also allows deployment to other tuberculosis clinics within the hospital group, so your specialist work may extend beyond one ward or unit.

Medical Officers

You will manage outpatient and inpatient patients, conduct daily reviews and respond to medical emergencies. The role can include inserting clinical lines and tubes, assisting with chest procedures and major surgery, arranging higher-centre transfers, issuing medical certificates and attending medico-legal matters.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: appointments are made in 179-day spells with a one-day technical break, and continuation depends on satisfactory work and the notified contract period.
• Attendance and shifts: biometric attendance applies, and doctors may be placed on day, night or emergency duty according to patient needs.
• Performance review: continuation is linked to periodic reports covering attendance and the quantity and quality of clinical service.
• Registration: the relevant Maharashtra Medical Council registration and its valid renewal must remain in force.
• Language and systems: you need to communicate in Marathi, Hindi and English and work with BMC's Hospital Management Information System.
• Notice period: a selected doctor who resigns must give one month's prior notice; the contract does not create a claim to permanent municipal service.
• Interview costs: BMC will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview.

Use the prescribed form and hand it in at the Medical Superintendent's office, Group of Tuberculosis Hospitals, Jerbai Wadia Road, Sewri, Mumbai 400015 during office hours. Get the fee challan from the Sewri office, pay it in cash at the municipal Citizen Facilitation Centre in F South, Parel, and attach the receipt. Applications sent by post are not accepted.
