AIIMS Guwahati Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - 12 Posts

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati has invited applications for 12 project staff positions on a purely contractual basis under the ICMR-funded research project titled "Development of an Optimal Model for Sickle Cell Disease Screening, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care: An Implementation Research Study." The project is being conducted in the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Guwahati, Changsari, Kamrup, Assam. There are 6 different post categories ranging from Project Research Scientist-III (Medical) to Project Nurse-I, making it suitable for candidates with medical, life science, and nursing backgrounds.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Research Scientist-III (Medical) - Rs. 93,000/month:

• MBBS / BVSc / BAMS or equivalent degree with Postgraduate Degree (MD/DNB or equivalent/MVSc/MDS/MPH including integrated PG degrees) from a recognised university and 3 years post-qualification experience in research or teaching
• OR Post Graduate Diploma in Medical subject after MBBS with 6 years experience
• OR MBBS / BVSc / BAMS or equivalent degree with 8 years experience

For Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) - Rs. 67,000/month:

• Postgraduate degree in Life Science / Biomedical & Health Sciences / Genetics / Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics / Pharmacy Practice / Biostatistics / Social Science / Epidemiology / Optometry or equivalent with 3 years post-qualification experience
• OR Postgraduate degree in any of the above subjects with PhD

For Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) - Rs. 56,000/month:

• Postgraduate degree in Life Science / Biomedical & Health Sciences / Genetics / Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics / Pharmacy Practice / Biostatistics / Social Science / Epidemiology / Optometry or equivalent

For Project Technical Support-III - Rs. 28,000/month:

• Graduate degree in Life Science / Biomedical & Health Sciences / Genetics / Molecular Biology / Public Health / Social Work / Sociology / Optometry or equivalent with 3 years post-qualification experience
• OR Post Graduate Degree in any of the above subjects

For Project Technical Support-II - Rs. 20,000/month:

• 10th in Science + Diploma (MLT / DMLT / Equivalent / Public Health / Social Work) with 5 years experience
• OR Three-year Graduate Degree with 2 years experience

For Project Nurse-I - Rs. 18,000/month:

• Two-year Auxiliary Nurse & Midwife (ANM) course

Age Limit

• Age limit is as per ICMR norms for all posts.
• Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories is available as per Central Government rules.

Salary

• Project Research Scientist-III (Medical): Rs. 93,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical): Rs. 67,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical): Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• Project Technical Support-III: Rs. 28,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• Project Technical Support-II: Rs. 20,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• Project Nurse-I: Rs. 18,000 per month + HRA as admissible
• These are consolidated emoluments under ICMR norms. An annual increment of 10% of pay may be added after one year of service.

Selection Process

The selection will be done through interview:

1. Screening of Applications: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the interview.
2. Written Test (if needed): A written test may be held if the number of applications received is large.
3. Interview (Physical Mode): Candidates will appear for an in-person interview at the Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Guwahati. You must bring all original certificates for verification.
4. Document Verification: All original certificates must be presented at the time of interview.

• Assist in conducting field-level screening and diagnostic activities for the Sickle Cell Disease research project
• Collect, manage, and analyse research data including clinical samples and patient records
• Coordinate with study participants and community members for counselling and follow-up visits
• Prepare study reports, maintain research documentation, and update databases regularly
• Handle laboratory procedures including molecular and genetic testing as required by the project
• Work closely with the Principal Investigator and project team to meet research timelines
• Provide nursing care and patient support during screening camps and clinical assessments (for Project Nurse)
